Top coffee Lounge’s In Rwanda
Written by: Travel Inn
Rwandan coffee is excellent and word renowned. For Coffee lovers visiting Rwanda and hoping to get the best of coffee beverage , There are so many coffee shops throughout the city of Kigali to visit! And if you love coffee or coffee beverage as much as I do here are some great ones are:
Bourbon: Rwanda is world-famed for its coffee beans, producing some of the world’s finest. In rural regions, it can be difficult to get hold of Rwandan coffee beans, as most are labeled for export. In the city centre, Bourbon coffee shop in Union Trading Centre is the best spot for excellent cappuccinos and blends. It’s an international chain where smart young professionals gather over lunch break. Dressed immaculately and often conversing at ease in several languages, this is a hub of the emerging educated classes. Poverty is still widespread in Rwanda and affects a majority, but here, the capital also shows signs of a burgeoning middle and upper class. Undeniably my favourite cup of coffee in the country, the types originate from plantations across Rwanda, such as Lake Kivu and Nyungwe, and can be bought as beans or ground, to take home. Meals are served in hearty portions and the wifi connectivity is excellent, making it a great spot to sit and people-watch on holiday or work over lunch.
Rendezvous Lounge Café
Unsurpassed views of the Kigali city skyline are one of the unique experiences available at this newly opened city centre hotel. From the airport, sports stadium and Conference Centre in the east to the stunning southern mountain views from the pooldeck of the highest rimflow pool in Rwanda, the all-around beauty is captivating. Served by some of the friendliest and most attentive staff in Kigali (in my experience), the food and drinks are up to the standard of the views. Try a Mutzig, the local draught, served in an ice cold glass and the grilled fish with fries.
Inzora Rooftop Café – Inside Ikirezi Bookstore 13, KG 5 Ave, Kigali, Rwanda
This was the second day in Rwanda and we had scheduled with a blogger to meet here, the café is in bookstore like all the books you ever wanted. INZORA is more than just another cafe. Perched high, with a view of the rising city in the distance, and the traditional life of the valley below, INZORA provides the perfect vantage point for inspiration. Couple this with innovative design, tasty store made and locally sourced products and a service-oriented experience and you have the perfect place to relax with friends or gets your creative inspiration flowing. Enjoy any of our spaces, from our shady roof terrace to our modern interior. The youngest of customers will also enjoy the space in our fun playhouse and kitchen.
Question Coffee Bar
Question Coffee is more than just a coffee shop and small-batch roastery sourcing exceptional coffees from farmers throughout Rwanda. They work closely with Sustainable Growers (formerly known as Relationship Coffee Institute) an organization formed in 2013 by Bloomberg Philanthropies in partnership with Sustainable Harvest. Question Coffee re-invests all proceeds from sales into training women farmers across Rwanda. The training programs focus on coffee agronomy techniques and business practices and provide women farmers with the knowledge and skills to form direct, productive relationships with coffee cooperatives, processors, importers, and roasters. Ultimately, the goal is to improve the coffee quality, increase its value in local and global markets, and increase the farmers’ yields and their incomes as a result.
This has to be one of my favorite coffee places in Kigali. Situated straight across from the Teacher’s College in Remera (bordering on Kimironko), you’ll always see trendy Rwandans coming for lunch between classes. The coffee is amazing, and their selection of iced drinks and milkshakes is both cheap and good.
For a hearty lunch, I highly recommend the omelet wrap, an insanely huge dish consisting of a 5-egg omelet wrapped around beef strips and fried vegetables. And in case you’re still hungry, it comes with bread and butter – greatness!
Neo Cafe – Kigali Business Centre, KN 5 Rd, Kigali, Rwanda
This offbeat rooftop cafe is famous for its perfectly brewed coffee, excellent tea, yummy pastries, generous sandwiches, colourful decor and chilled seating. Very ‘modern Kigali’. Neo represents a modern and vibrant approach to celebrating Africa’s coffee heritage. Sourced from the shores of Lake Kivu in the Hills of Rwanda.
