Dubai Airport is officially the most luxurious in the world

Airports may not always feel like the most glamorous places, but there are those around the world that are lifting the luxury bar.

According to a recent research by AllClear Travel Insurance, Dubai International Airport (DXB) is the most luxury airport worldwide.

With over 70 premium hotels nearby, DXB ranked first with an 83 out of 100 rating. “Dubai as a destination is well known across the world for luxury and wealth, so it’s not too surprising that the airport ranks as the most luxurious on the globe,” according to the report. “The airport is the fastest-growing aviation hub in the world and it even has its own five-star hotel located inside the airport itself. With zen gardens, an outdoor swimming pool, a gym, movies, and a plethora of restaurants, this airport will undoubtedly leave you feeling rejuvenated before boarding your journey.

The study examined more than 1,800 airports and ranked them out of 100 based on a variety of factors, including the number of lounges available (a minimum of 10) and the number of five-star hotels within a five-kilometer radius, as well as the number of designer shops and the presence of champagne or caviar bars in departures.

London’s Heathrow Airport comes in second, missing out on first place by one point. Heathrow was praised for its superb lounge service and the amount of upscale retailers on standby.

Doha’s Hamad International Airport landed in third place, with acclaim for its excellent design, size, and shopping facilities. Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport and Sydney International Airport complete the top five.
